Verification Status—an introduction
A key aspect to enriching large data sets at scale is identifying and verifying if the enriched records returned in response to the enrichment models are not only correct, but also verified by outside sources.
Leadspace provides several different data points in our enrichment service that can help you to determine which records are not only valid based on objective, 3rd party sources, but also which records you should prioritize in your systems.
Leadspace uses the social web to cross-verify the validity of either the input value or the enriched value returned using a combination of email & social data to provide the most thorough verification process possible.
Leadspace Verification
Overview
As part of the Leadspace enrichment process, we run every contact through a vigorous series of validation and verification processes, combining email, social, and email + social verification steps to append verification values to a record ensuring confidence that the contact provided in the input works for the company provided on that same input record.
Verification and Enrichment
A prerequisite to Contact Verification is a successful enrichment of your individual contact or lead records.
If those records cannot be enriched through our enrichment algorithm with an Enrichment Status containing ‘person enriched’, then a verification status will not be provided due to Leadspace not finding valid information for that record.
Verification Types
Prior to reviewing how Leadspace verification works, it’s important to review the types of verifications Leadspace employs to confidently return an accurately enriched record that you can invoke in your data ecosystem and systems.
Original Email Verification:
Original Email Verification functions based on an email ‘ping’ to a 3rd party verification source, which provides in return the possible values of Valid, Invalid & Unknown based on the original email input.
Once Leadspace enriches the contact, we then make a call to our email verification sources to validate one of the following:
- The original email provided on the input is valid
- The email Leadspace provided back after enrichment is valid
Social Verification:
Social Profiles are verified as a function of a verification request call to 3rd party social verification sources, including LinkedIn directly, which then returns a LinkedIn URL and the validity status of that individual contact profile.
Once Leadspace enriches the contact, we then make a call to our social verification sources to verify the contact’s LinkedIn URL.
Verification Statuses
Once your records have been enriched, and potentially verified, the returned, refreshed data set will include status indicators for the Verification of your individual contacts.
Depending on the validation criteria, you may receive different values per record depending on what our algorithm and verification sources could confirm. Please see below:
Fields and Values
LS Verified = Indicates whether or not the record was verified as a valid lead by more than one data source.
LS Verified |
Verified |
Not Verified |
|
Moved |
Interpreting these values should be considered very straightforward, see below:
Verified |
Indicates the contact provided on the input record is employed by the company provided in the input record. |
Not Verified |
Indicates that Leadspace could not verify whether the contact on the input record is employed by the company provided in the input record, based on only having one source of verification. |
Moved |
Indicates that the contact provided on the input record is not employed by the company provided on the input record. Leadspace will return the ‘new company’ as well for this moved contact |
LS Verification Source = The data source in which lead was verified by, if any. Options include: Email / Social / Email & Social
Interpreting these values should be considered very straightforward, see below:

Use Cases
There are numerous Use Cases where you can leverage the Leadspace Verification values to drive successful programs and a better understanding and qualification of your data in your systems. Depending on the Use Case, you may want to utilize verification differently.
A few use cases can be found below:
- Data Workflows
- In MAP / CRMs , you can prioritize leads and contacts based on their verification from Leadspace enrichment. Depending on the Use Case there are different ways you can identify records to prioritize from the Leadspace enrichment or clean-up your Marketing Automation or CRM systems.
- Perhaps you want to reduce the number of invalid contacts in your CRM, you could remove contacts where Original Email Verification Status = Invalid or you could potentially exclude them from an email audience and work them into a social campaign workflow
- Updating Records in Database / CRM
- In systems such as Process Builder, you can trigger workflows to update records and fields such as email addresses based on an email that has changed (or moved) by creating a new lead, re-enriching, and then running appropriate triggers
- Moved Contact Campaigns and Filtering
- Moved records indicate records in which we have been able to establish that the person has moved to a new company
- Moved Contact Email Campaigns
- Depending on the needs of your organization, you may still want to leverage the email addresses for contacts in your database, even though you know they’ve moved from the original company you had in your ecosystem.
- Once you’ve collated a list of contacts with Moved status, you can then upload that list into your email or CRM systems and set up segmentation based on those contacts
- Match Rate Reports
